March Madness

I love college basketball. It’s a bit of an oddity for me because I never watch professional basketball. I’m really put off by the showboating and narcissism of it. But, though she is exceedingly gracious about it, March is a tough month for Alean, because I really enjoy the NCAA tournament, especially the opening rounds. It is in these opening rounds that teams no one has even heard of take on and occasionally defeat teams that should trounce everyone who takes the floor with them. It’s tremendously exciting because very often you really don’t know who is going to win.

As I write this, Florida Gulf Coast is putting a serious hurt on Georgetown. This should be no contest, but at the moment, Florida Gulf Coast is leading by 15 points, and there are only three minutes left in the game.

How unlike our walk with Christ. With Jesus the battle is already won. The only remaining question is whether or not we believe that, and trust in His victory on our behalf. Many followers after Christ avoid the Revelation to John, choosing to read or study just about any biblical writing other than that one. I understand that hesitancy, because apocalyptic language can be terribly difficult to understand, but let me encourage you with one thought. If you understand the message, “We win!” you understand the Revelation. Yes, there are a lot of specifics that go beyond that truth, but the ultimate, encouraging message of John’s Revelation is We Win!!

Now go walk in that victorious reality my friend!

Victoriously in Christ!

My niece just posted today, “I hate March Madness!” It kinda sucks her husband in.
